Quantum Systems acquires AI specialist Spleenlab to strengthen in-house AI capabilities and accelerate autonomy across its portfolio.
Saalburg/Gilching, 20 October 2025 - Spleenlab GmbH, a leading German specialist for artificial intelligence in autonomous systems, today announces its acquisition by Quantum Systems, Europe’s leading provider of unmanned ISR systems and autonomous solutions.
With this acquisition, Spleenlab’s VISIONAIRY® AI suite and deep expertise in edge perception and decision-making become part of Quantum Systems’ growing product and research ecosystem. The integration marks a significant step in advancing safer, more autonomous mission systems across air, land, and maritime domains — and in combining world-class hardware, software, and AI into one cohesive platform.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Saalburg-Ebersdorf and Jena (Germany), Spleenlab has become known for next-generation machine-learning software enabling robust perception, GPS-denied navigation, multi-object detection, and coordinated multi-platform autonomy. Its AI technologies have been successfully deployed on Quantum Systems platforms in multiple joint research initiatives and projects for the German Ministry of Defence and other governmental authorities and Armed Forces.
“Spleenlab was founded to make unmanned autonomy truly possible,” said Dr. Stefan Milz, Co-CEO of Spleenlab. “After years of successful collaboration, joining forces with Quantum Systems allows us to bring our proven AI technologies to a broader range of real-world missions — scaling innovation where it matters most.”
Co-CEO Tobias Rüdiger added: “We share a deep commitment to engineering excellence and to delivering AI that is auditable, robust, and mission-ready. Together, we will continue driving the future of trusted autonomy.”
Quantum Systems Co-CEO and Co-founder Florian Seibel commented: “Spleenlab’s AI expertise has shaped and improved our battle-proven platforms for years. By bringing Spleenlab into the Quantum Systems family, we are fulfilling our promise to integrate world-class hardware with world-class software, enabling autonomy that works in the most demanding operational environments.”
As part of the acquisition, Spleenlab’s entire team will become an integral part of Quantum Systems’ AI Center of Excellence, tripling its software and AI capacity.
Quantum Systems will retain all existing employees and maintain Spleenlab’s operational base in Thuringia and its strategic presence in Jena. Existing partnerships and research collaborations within the unmanned ecosystem will continue — with both teams working together to accelerate the transfer of cutting-edge research into operational capabilities for customers and allied programs.
